47 farmers learn how to make organic fertiliser

In July 2024, Mboni ya Vijana organized a two-day workshop to train farmers to exploit local resources to produce three types of organic fertilizer: 18-days composite, fish hydrolysate, and lactobacillus. The 47 trainees came from 5 regions of Tanzania and included smallholder farmers, farmer trainers, and young entrepreneurs. The participants actively participated in the discussions and benefitted from this networking opportunity. Their newly acquired knowledge and skills should enable farmers to increase their yields by 50 to 150%, and to train other farmers in their regions.

The technology was designed and funded by Lifeworks Global while the training was facilitated by the Conservation Farming Unit. The Tanzania Development Trust prayed a central role in coordinating the scheme.
